- Registering an interest
-
In 2005/6 our attemp to register an interest in Holmehill under the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 had been rejected - largely because it was not "timeous". We resolved to try again, this time before the land came back on the market. A great deal of effort went into collecting the names, signatures, and postcodes of local supporters, in the precise form required by the Scottish Executive. In the event the application was blocked because the owners, Allanwater Developments, had signed an option agreement: we were unable to find out with whom.
- Proposals by Allanwater Developments
-
Allanwater met with the Chief Executive of Stirling Council. We obtained notes of that meeting under Freedom of Information legislation. The developer tabled illustrative proposals for the hill, including a plan for 32 detached houses, 22 "Village" houses, and a "New Community Facility".
- Fund-raising
-
We held a very successful fund-raising concert, "An evening with Richard Smith," in the Victoria Hall. Richard, a virtuoso guitarist from Nashville, played a storm. We produced a very successful photo calendar for sale at Christmas: 500 copies were sold.
- Events
-
We held a Family Funday (in the Braeport Centre and out on the hill), and a Holmehill-inspired art competition for local schools.
- Website
-
Grant Wilson set up our first website (the forerunner of this site).
