The church Fella-og hólakirkja where the church-choir leads services is situated in the south-east district of Reykjavík, the multi-cultural and vibrant area of Breiðholt. Kór Fella-og hólakirkju choir counts over twenty members, many of whom have studied singing, either by way of choral singing for decades or have worked at a professional level. What they all have in common is the joy of singing!

Arnhildur, the conductor, enjoys warm ties with Scotland, since she studied at the RSAMD (RCS) between 1990 and 1995.

About our concert:

The programme chosen for our visit to Bonnie Scotland includes some icelandic folksongs that reflect our intimate relationship with nature. There is the frantic riding of horses across the black-sand highlands with one's life depending on getting there before darkness falls, there are songs about our friend , the black raven, shrouded by folk-stories and superstitions and there is a lullaby that the outlaws sang to their babies.

One icelandic Ave Maria, two songs that are both heartfelt favourites of Icelanders and often sung at funerals,a couple of rather well-known Scottish boat-songs, a Ukrainian folksong and one of our favourites where we attempt at ringing the church-bells as it were with human voices.

All are very welcome at this event.
