Scotland’s Gardens Scheme Stirlingshire

The Open Gardens season is in full swing. Many visitors have enjoyed the gardens at Kilbryde Castle, Milsey Bank and Bridge of Allan raising almost £3500 for charity. Coming soon is an unusual garden at Tillicoultry Parish Church. On July 3rd it will be open from 2pm-5pm, entry £5 including refreshments (children go free). This garden is in what was an unloved and overgrown former orchard to the Manse and has been developed by a group of enthusiastic volunteers. It is now much loved by the local community and is open to all. It can be used for moments of quiet contemplation, youth groups and for families with young children where they can safely play. You may possibly come face to face with a dinosaur or even spot a fairy or two!

On the day Froglife and the Butterfly Conservation Society will be showing you ways to make your garden wildlife friendly. Rumbling Bridge Nursery, Alpine Specialists from Kinross, will be there too with plants and expert advice. In addition, there will be a second hand book sale.

Another garden open right now by arrangement is The Gardener’s Cottage Walled Garden near Killearn. (G63 9QB). A fabulous formal garden and June and July is a good time to visit to see the roses and a wide variety of herbaceous flowering plants.
