Join us for an evening of music and film exploring Morvern’s Rainforest and the harnessing of water by this small West Highland Community.

On a Wing and a Prayer – doing something in the hope that you will succeed despite being insufficiently prepared. Taking this figure of speech as a starting point for humankind’s approach to the climate crisis, Nordic Viola’s string trio enters into musical conversation with West Highland composer, Lisa Robertson.

Together they explore the Atlantic Rainforest of the Morvern peninsula and the community’s relationship to the land, drawing on its power and resources whilst working in harmony with nature. From coast to mountain via stream and woodland, they explore a range of emotions from the bleakness of habitat loss through the teeming life of the rainforest and towards the hope of a more harmonious existence between humankind and nature.

In a blend of instrumental and natural sound with poetic fragments by Kathleen Jamie, Lisa Robertson and Nordic Viola create a unique and reflective soundscape for string trio.

Note that: Unfortunately access to the gallery is via stairs. We will do our best to help you and, if access proves impossible for you, then, within a 10-mile radius of Dunblane, we would be happy to arrange a private screening of the event recorded in Morvern itself in your own home at a mutually agreed time.
