Friends of the Laigh Hills

The Laigh Hills is Dunblane’s largest park and is a popular and well used greenspace which currently has much to offer for formal and informal recreation, play, biodiversity and food production. But we would like to enhance and promote the benefits of the park further, working with local people and Stirling Council (who manage the land).

Discussions about the Laigh Hills have been ongoing over a number of years, and in 2014 a consultation exercise was undertaken by the Council in 2014 and a Master Plan was produced proposing the establishment of a Friends of the Laigh Hills group.

Some of the actions highlighted in the Master Plan have already been undertaken – for example the establishment of the Community Orchard with generous grant funding.

In May 2026 an inaugural meeting was held as the first step to now setting up a Friends of the Laigh Hills group, and was well attended and supported. The Friends group would be a working group of the Dunblane Development Trust, with involvement from Dunblane Community Council, and the general aims of the group would be to:

  • develop the Laigh Hills for responsible public access and enjoyment;
  • liaise with other relevant groups and organisations;
  • encourage volunteer involvement;
  • source funding for projects;
  • enhance the biodiversity of the park in a sustainable way;
  • develop an action plan, based on existing surveys and reports.

The existing plans, reports and surveys are all available by following the links below, and further updates will be posted in future. You can contact us at orchard@dunblane.info.
