What does it mean to us?  The assets will still be owned and managed by Stirling Council but will be administered by the Civic Panel of Stirling Council.  There might be a suggestion that asset management is funded from the Common Good Fund, but the fund is only likely to contain additional cash when assets are disposed off.

Discussions are ongoing to clarify all of this, but the historic nature of the assets and legal complexities mean that these discussions will be challenging.

The first of several Zebra Crossings planned for Dunblane is now being installed in Doune Road.  Another one the other side of Dunblane Primary on Old Doune Road is also planned for this month.  Both of these were necessitated by a decision to no longer have lollipop personnell. 

A third Zebra crossing is proposed for outside the Dunblane Centre but speed measurements will be made to validate the requirement for this.

Stirling Council has just launched this year’s Big Conversation with residents about how it tackles another significant budget shortfall next year (2025-26), and we want to hear your views.

This year, the Big Conversation will include two surveys. The questions in the first survey - which is open now - are based on the feedback we received in last year’s Big Conversation. You told us you wanted more opportunities to tell us about the services you valued, what you liked and disliked about service delivery, and how we could do better and be more efficient. You also told us your views on raising council tax to raise income and help bridge the budget gap. We encourage you to do all of this by completing the survey here, by the 17 November: we want to know what you think.

The second survey will be published in early 2025 following the Scottish Government announcement of the annual local government finance settlement in December. It will run for around a month will include detailed savings proposals to address the estimated shortfall which residents will be able to feedback on.

Dunblane craft brewery plans to host first taproom event before Christmas

The town's new brewer has dreams of organising an annual Dunblane beer festival.

Matty Dixon launched his brewery in July 2021, but now it has found a home in Dunblane.

A brewery and taproom is expected to open in Dunblane before the end of 2024.

Funday 20

The 20th anniversary was also celebrated on Funday Sunday 22nd Sept with Pipers, Drummers and Dancers from the Queen Victoria School performing.  This was followed by a short speech and, of course, the cutting of a cake!  With  a variety of stalls, including food outlets.
