Ian Scott
Retired Assistant Principal at Falkirk College.
Chair of Falkirk Local History Society
The engineer James Watt (1736-1819) was an enlightenment genius whose pioneering work on steam power helped launch the industrial revolution and transformed Scotland and the world. In his talk Ian Scott will cover the life of Watt with particular focus on the work he carried out in Scotland, including experimental work at Kinneil, Boness, where a little workshop built for him by Dr John Roebuck, one of the founders of Carron Ironworks, still stands.
