DUNBLANE – VICTORIAN HOTBED OF SPORT
Andy Mitchell
Scottish sport historian
Dunblane Local History Society member.

While Andy and Jamie Murray's exploits have put Dunblane on the world stage, the town has been a sporting hotbed since Victorian times when sport was an integral part of local life. The football team produced Scotland internationalists and was the pride of Perthshire, the first golf course was laid out by Old Tom Morris on the Laighills, and there were active and competitive clubs for curling, cycling, cricket, tennis and bowls. Against this background sports historian Andy Mitchell will reveal in his talk the stories of some of Dunblane's early sporting heroes.

Free to members. £1.50 for visitors.
