Plans for 129 new homes at Hillside submitted
10 May 2016
Arnbathie Developments and Dandara have brought forward a proposal for full planning permission for the development. An application for a large residential development on the outskirts of Dunblane has been submitted. Arnbathie Developments and Dandara have brought forward a proposal for 129 homes at Hillside. They are seeking full planning permission for the development, which has already attracted opposition from some residents in the area.
In November of last year, we reported that the developers were planning between 100 and 150 units off the Main Road between Dunblane and the Keir Roundabout. The ‘Stop Hillside Houses’ Facebook group has attracted 265 followers. The group argue that the area to the south of the town is unsuitable for residential development, and should not have been indentified for housing in Stirling Council’s draft Local Development Plan. The planning application reveals that there are a variety of different houses proposed within the development, with 40 of the homes classed as ‘affordable’. A statement issued on behalf of the applicant states:
“Development of the site would not only create an attractive addition to the local area but would ensure the delivery of much needed homes and in doing so contribute to increasing the housing land supply in the Stirling area. This is a significant benefit of the proposal and should not be overlooked. Failure to determine the application favourably would have significant implications on the delivery of both main stream and affordable housing in the Stirling area.”
After a consultation event held last November - where 100 people attended - the applicants stated that they have reduced the development’s encroachment on woodland areas.
The development - which would be situated on greenbelt land - is split into several different areas, with a junction off the main road onto the existing road up Hillside proposed by the applicants.
