The popular Dunblane Area Green Travel Map has now been updated thanks to funding from the Smarter Choices Smarter Places Open Fund. First published in 2011, the map has helped many people to discover walking & cycling routes and explore our lovely local area. Many other projects use the maps too, e.g. for health walks, cycle training, travel planning. This latest update includes new paths and community suggestions made in the Map Survey.
As well as being online here at Dunblane.info, free paper copies are available at schools, Dunblane Library, Braeport Centre,“Weigh Ahead”, Doune PO/Information Centre, Recyke-a-bike and some local bike shops. Enjoy!
Another of Dunblane's sporting heroes has made history leading St.Johnstone to victory in the Scottish Cup final and the Scottish League Cup final in his first year as manager of the club. Ex-international football player Callum Davidson was given his first full-time role in management with St Johnstone in June 2020 and the team is going from strength to strength.

The Council would like to share the designs for the following package of measures that were proposed for Dunblane: (Please click the "Design" links to view)
1. Provide enhanced cycle parking in High Street (near train station/near newsagent/near postbox).
2. Introduce 20mph limit from The Cross and High Street roundabout (next to Gold Postbox) to Fourways roundabout, continuing until Marks and Spencer's on Stirling Road.

3. Install artwork on road next to High School to highlight pedestrian priority. Please note that during the design process we agreed that the installation of bollards would be more effective than the installation of artwork, which is reflected in the proposal.
The designs will be installed in spring of this year, initially on a temporary basis for up to 18 months. During this time Stirling Council will be regularly monitoring and evaluating the project to ensure it is working as intended.
If it is shown that the project has longer term benefits outwith assisting in the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, and prior to the project being made permanent, there will be a statutory three-week consultation period as part of the Traffic Regulation Order process. In the meantime should you wish to comment on the designs, please do so in the accompanying text box.

Council writing to residents about new garden waste permit
Residents across Stirling will shortly receive a letter with details of the Council’s new Garden Waste Recycling Permit.
From 19 April, garden waste will only be collected from brown bins with a valid permit on display.
The annual permit will cost £35 (£1.45 per collection) and is required to be purchased to subscribe to the service. If households don’t want to have this service, food waste will still be collected in the brown bin.
Some households, including those in receipt of a council tax reduction, will receive the permit for free.
Letters will be posted to households throughout March with information on the service change and how to apply for the new permit.
Convener of Stirling Council’s Environment and Housing Committee, Cllr Jim Thomson said: “The introduction of an optional garden waste permit will ensure the Council can continue to provide this important service to residents at a time of severe financial pressures for local authorities.
“It’s also a key part of the transformational changes to our waste service which aim to increase recycling, reduce waste going to landfill and ultimately deliver a better household waste collection service. “We recognise that some people will find it challenging to pay for the permit and that’s why we have included a 100% concession”.
Collecting garden waste is not a statutory service and a number of other Scottish Councils have introduced a Garden Waste Permit in recent years, including Angus, Highland, Perth and Kinross and Clackmannanshire.
Vice Convener, Cllr Danny Gibson said: “More Scottish local authorities are implementing a charge for collecting garden waste but we understand this is a considerable change to a long-standing service.
“We are providing clear guidance and support to residents across Stirling ahead of the transition and our Waste Service will be writing to all residents explaining the change in provision and how it will work.
“There are also additional resources on our website if you have further questions about the new permit or want to provide us with feedback, which we will take on board.”
