Our hearts go out to everyone who has lost their home and their livliehood through this fire – in particular, the family who lived above and fortunately all got out safely. A Just Giving page has been launched to provide support for them.

From
Drew Leslie
I am writing to provide an update regarding the fire at the Chip Inn on
Station Road, Dunblane.
A multi-agency response has been in place since the incident was
reported last night. Teams worked throughout the night to bring the fire
under control and support the wider response. The Scottish Fire and
Rescue Service was only able to fully extinguish the fire once the gas
supply to the flat above the shop had been safely isolated. Final
isolation of both gas and electrical supplies was completed around
lunchtime today.
A structural engineer has been on site since this morning, providing
advice on utility isolation and safe working practices in the vicinity
of the building. A potential risk has been identified in relation to the
gable end facing the Station, and the decision to close access to the
station car park from the Stirling Road end reflects this concern. The
engineer will return tomorrow to carry out a further assessment of the
building’s condition and consider next steps.
A Heras fencing cordon installed by the Council’s Roads Service is
now in place, securing the immediate area and preventing access to the
main Station Road car park. Pedestrian access to the Station from
Stirling Road has now reopened. The Roads team have implemented a
temporary two-way traffic system, with access via the Bridgend route
only. Station Road, between Bridgend and Victoria Hall, has also
reopened. Protective fencing will remain along the shop-side pavement to
ensure public safety.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service transferred control of the site to
Stirling Council Building Standards this afternoon. Building Standards
are progressing contact with property owners and arrangements to secure
the affected properties, and supporting progressing assessment for
repair.
Building Standards, Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue
Service have supported controlled access to allow occupiers to retrieve
essential belongings. Officers have contacted displaced households to
confirm that suitable alternative accommodation arrangements are in
place, and no further assistance has been requested.
Some localised disruption may continue while investigations and safety
checks are completed. Members will be kept informed of any significant
developments, but please get in touch if there are any further issues.
