I am an MSc Criminology and Criminal Justice student at the University
of Glasgow conducting a dissertation survey on public attitudes towards
sentencing in Scotland, including the potential introduction of
suspended sentences.

The survey is open to anyone aged 18 or over who currently lives in
Scotland. It is anonymous, has received university ethical approval and
takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete. No legal knowledge or
specialist background is required.

I am trying to include responses from a broad range of Scottish
communities, regions and age groups. I would therefore be very grateful
if the Community Council would consider sharing the survey through its
website, social-media page, newsletter or mailing list.

The survey discusses the potential introduction of suspended sentences
in Scotland, as well as sentencing options for offenses such as assault
and domestic abuse, which are currently applicable in similar
jurisdictions which have suspended sentences, but does not ask
participants to disclose personal experiences.
