Anyone having watched the Kenneth More version of The Thirty Nine Steps (1959) will remember the leap from the window of the local Sheriff's office. This was from an upstairs room at the Burgh Chambers. The glass from the window was removed for the film and replaced with a sheet of crystalised sugar. After each shot, the local children swooped on the "shards" of glass and sooked happily.
