Outline Plan for Holmehill

Shortly after buying Holmehill, in November 2006 Allanwater Developments met with the Chief Executive of Stirling Council to discuss the development of the site.   Subsequently we used the Freedom of Information Act to obtain a copy of a plan tabled by Allanwater at the meeting.   While this plan was not a firm proposal, it indicates the direction of Allanwater's thinking at that time.

The plan shows a very large number of new houses: 55 in all.   There are 33 large houses, each house plot up to a quarter of an acre, and 22 smaller houses of approximately 1500 sq ft.   The old house site is left as a "Woodland Park".

Land Ownership

A striking feature is that the planned development sprawls well beyond the limits of the ground actually owned by Allanwater.   In addition to Allanwater's own land, it covers

  • the Braeport Centre and its car park
  • Ramoyle/ Bogside - an undulating, open grassy area where children play; traditionally known as 'the Hieliemans' (or 'the Hielies')
  • Bogside/Perth Road (the site formerly occupied by Scottish Woodlands, and some lock up garages)
  • the owner occupied East Lodge on the Perth Road (a listed building).
