Football : Dunblane's Under 16 team win unique cup double

Dunblane Soccer Club Under-16 team recently won a unique cup double. The club won the Forth Valley Football Development Association regional challenge cup on penalties at the expense of Cowie United and then went onto to secure the title with a victory in their final league game over Seafar Villa FC. It was a fitting finale to a long season which began last August. The challenge cup final, played at Recreation Park in Alloa, was a tightly fought contest won after the tightest of penalty shoot-outs against a spirited Cowie side. More drama was to unfold two days later when the first and second placed teams in the league faced each other in winner takes all final game. This was a very tense and tight game, despite the eventual scoreline of 5-1 to Dunblane. It was a testimony to both sides who had challenged for the title of league winners. Goals from Jamie Braidwood, Sean Campbell and Sean Brown resulted in the win that took the title back to Dunblane and secured the second leg of the unique double.
